A New Way Out of Anxiety

Hi Reader

Most people try to fix their anxiety.

They view anxiety as a problem to be solved.

Something to change and get rid of.

Here’s why that never works.

Anxiety isn’t a feeling. Anxiety is a spiral.

The anxiety spiral tricks us into doing the things that cause it to grow.
So the more you fight it, the more it escalates, leading you further and further away from peace.

Here’s how the anxiety spiral works

Something in your environment feels threatening.

A small fear response happens.

That seed of fear gets picked up by your left-brain neocortex, which creates scary stories and control strategies (like people-pleasing, excessive planning, “just trying to be in control”).

Then the scary stories go back to the fear response, and the fear grows.

The formula is: fear + control + catastrophic stories = Anxiety spiral

The anxiety spiral creates:

  • Distraction that’s coming from the anxiety spiral
  • Trying to plan the future as a way to be calm and in control—that’s coming from the anxiety spiral
  • Control patterns like people pleasing, which arise from the anxiety spiral

The way out: by leveraging a different spiral

The opposite of an anxiety spiral is a creativity spiral.

curiosity + fascination + invention = Creativity spiral

And you can’t be in both an anxiety spiral and a creativity spiral at once.

As anxiety ramps up, creativity diminishes.
As creativity ramps up, anxiety diminishes.

That’s the doorway. Not wrestling. Not forcing. Not suppression.

Try this next time you feel anxious (from the training)

On April 8th, I’m walking you through the exact framework behind “Freedom From Anxiety”, including a practical way to step out of the spiral in real time:

1) Observe anxiety (don’t wrestle it)
2) Enter curiosity on purpose
3) Move into creativity as practice

This isn’t a quick fix. It’s a change in how you relate to what’s happening inside you—so you stop feeding the spiral and start returning to presence and purpose.

P.S. If you’ve tried to “get rid of” anxiety for a long time, this is your turning point. The spiral can’t grow in the same way when you start working with curiosity + creativity instead of fear + control.
